Meet Jennifer
Hi, there! I’m Jennifer, host of the Vintage Century Idle Hour Podcast. I’m really glad you’re here!
I know this will shock you, but I’m not a professional podcaster (she says with a smile). In real life I manage a global training department for a travel technology company. I’ve been in the training and development field for…well, let’s just say a looooong time. My passion within that field is instructional design. I’ve also been an adjunct instructor at a local college, a consultant, a high school English teacher, a bank teller, a sales associate, and a bunch of other stuff.
I have two defining qualities: First, I’m a very prayerful person. I rarely make a move without praying about it, and I complain to God on a daily basis about a variety of things (He probably wishes I was a little less prayerful.) Anyway, my very deep faith informs all of my decisions, including those pertaining to Vintage Century Land and the Idle Hour Podcast.
Second, I am an extreme introvert. I’ve held “extroverted” jobs all my life (how I’ve managed to do that, I’ll never know) and I have a wonderful small circle of friends that are extremely important to me. But give me a quiet corner and a good book to read, and that’s really all I need to be happy. I am very lucky, indeed.
My sidekick is Olive, the sweetest little dog in the world. She loves the sound of her own voice, long walks, and rides to McDonald’s. Turn-offs include baths, thunder, tin foil, and her vet, Dr. Cupp.
I enjoy watching old movies (of course), antiquing (naturally), reading, writing, and spending time with my six nieces and nephews. Oh, and Disney World. I’m a little bit of a fanatic about Disney World. Well, and Naples, Florida. Florida in general, really. I go there at least twice a year.
I’ve traveled a fair bit, throughout the United States, Canada, Europe–and even one trip to India. But I live in Kansas City, Missouri, which, in my opinion, is the finest city in the world.
